Outage Alerts for Business Customers

Overview

Outage Alerts provide e-mails about the occurrence, status and resolution of power outages affecting your electric accounts. These e-mails can be sent to digital devices that have an e-mail address, such as PC, PDA, pager or cell phone. The alerts allow multiple individuals in your organization to receive the e-mails on multiple devices.

Features

  • Easy enrollment. We recommend designating one individual as the primary contact. You create a profile in Business Account Online (BAO), which provides secure access to your account usage, billing data, and other tools. After adding accounts to your profile, you can assign e-mail addresses to the accounts so you can receive outage messages.
    Login to BAO if you are already enrolled and sign up for Outage Alerts.

  • No charge. The service is free, but some cell phone providers may charge for receiving incoming text messages (typically 10 to 15 cents per message).
  • Initial message. The first message of an outage is delayed about 10 minutes (unless the outage was called-in). This avoids messages about momentary outages, which are quickly resolved.
  • Outage updates. Status updates are sent the moment our system is updated with new information concerning your outage.
  • Feedback. We may ask you to participate in a follow-up survey or interview to improve the service.
  • Customization. If you want to track multiple accounts, you can rename accounts to help differentiate.
